- Revelation 1:8 “I am”…says the Lord…”the Almighty.”
- Almighty – All powerful, all-ruling, absolute and universal sovereign.
- Jesus has unimaginably more authority and power than history’s richest, most militarily equipped, and totally established dictators. He is able to speak commands and demand absolute and immediate obedience from person or thing (“even the wind and waves obey Him!”). He rules His Kingdom with a rod of iron and there is none that can oppose Him.
- Subject of the King; trust Him as sovereign over you. For His rule, while absolute, is saturated with love and wisdom; and is always exercised for the good of His subjects.
- And remember that you are His ambassador, sent into this world to do business in His name. You too have been given realms of authority to rule over and you must rule them with a rod of iron for there must be one will to be done…His will. But also remember that the Almighty says the greatest in His kingdom is the servant, and your authority must also be governed by love and wisdom, and always exercised for the good of those over whom you have authority.
